Melbourne VSTS User group first meeting

Attended the first Melbourne Visual Studio Team System User Group meeting during the week.
The meeting was a nice small group of people so much so that we all fitted around the one table which was nice.
It started with us each introducing ourselves and then Joe Sango gave us a run down on why he decided to get the group started. David Lemphers from Microsoft also talked about licensing and the new Proxy client. One of the other interesting things that he mentioned is that the guys building the product are actually dog fooding it at the same time. So they are building VSTS using VSTS !!! This was actually how they came across the problem that required them to build the proxy client when it started slowing down after a certain number of files. Certainly sounds like a great way to guarantee the product team iron out all the big bugs before it gets to the beta testers.
We wound it up talking about the next meeting. The general consensus was that we would each try and get the Beta 3 up and installed in the meantime and then we could all discuss any issues that we come across next meeting.
All up it was a good meeting, it was also nice to be involved in something from the beginning. It will be interesting to see how the group evolves as the product gets closer to release date and even afterwards.
The other great thing to hear was how receptive the people on the Microsoft VSTS product team are to comments and questions raised by people in the community, sounds like the team is a really switched on bunch keen to hear from the community which can only make the product stronger.
